I’m a human geographer interested in the lives lived around waters and other natures on the urban-rural spectrum of the Coromandel Coast. My academic focus has been on the city of Chennai, its many waterways and more recently, its foodways.
I completed my PhD in Human Geography at University College London (UCL) in 2018 and then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the ERC-funded ‘Rethinking Urban Nature’ project at the University of Cambridge. From 2019-22, I held a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the London School of Economics & Political Science and am currently a Senior Lecturer in Geography at Queen Mary University of London.
Before this, I worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chennai and Bengaluru writing stories about urbanisation.
